Walmart has cashed checks for other members. If they give you trouble, you may want to try depositing/cashing it at a bank.

Could you have a relative or a friend cash it for you? Some members will endorse (sign the back of) the check and then have a parent, another relative, or a friend cash it for them at their bank.

Take Dana's advice. We have a lot of members who have their parents cash the check for them at a bank.

How much does it cost to put money in to open up a bank account? I opened one when I was 18 so I forgot how much it is if it costs. But a bank is a way to cash these checks... I wouldn't go to Wal*Mart or any other place, they usually make you pay for that stuff anyway.

If they are under 18 they can't get a bank account without a parent. Remember, a lot of members are minors here!

That is true, I did not think about that...

Wal mart is terrible sometimes for cashing checks. They do a check of your ssn and if anything is weird at all they wont do it. They wont cash my gf's checks from her real job that is in town(but she's getting a bank account monday so not a big deal)

I would check a local grocery store if they have a customer service booth. Some times they cash checks, though they usually charge 1 dollar per 100 dollars of check value. That's not that much though, I'd imagine most cashcrate checks would end up costing you a buck to cash.(they take it out of the check as well so you don't have to pay up front)

Outside of that having a relative cash it for you is the easiest way.
