Why does the snake game hate me?

I played a couple games of snake fish or what ever i forgot the name. I would get to 22,000 and when i hit the fish my guy would die and i lose. now i said o i guess i hit something. i tested it again. i went into a straight line to the fish and still ended up with 22,000 now its either they run out of fish or im getting cheated because i can easily get past the leaders at 23,000. any help or advice?

There are only 25 fish. After you've eaten them all the game is over. Whoever eats the fish fastest score the most points.
